Vic: Police warn against gang fear after city attack
Victoria's top crime fighter has moved to quell fears over Asian gangs after a man's
hand was hacked off during a mass brawl last night.
Doctors are confident the 21-year-old St Albans man will regain the use of his hand
after surgeons reattached it during an eight-hour operation.
A fight between up to 40 men in two groups started on Albert Street in East Melbourne
about 7 pm (AEDT) and spilled into Fitzroy Gardens.
The man later fled to St Vincent's Hospital …
