This, is the second major big screen adaptation of Oscar Wilde's classic tale of vanity. The first, The Picture of Dorian Gray, was filmed in 1945 and starred George Saunders as the morally- bankrupt Lord Wotton. It is important to note that director Oliver Parker's 2009 adaptation, not having to deal with censorship as an issue, is considerably more graphic in its content than the 1940's version, and it certainly earns its 14 A rating.
