No. 9 doesn't leave quietly // Ditka target of McMahon's parting shots

Jim McMahon ended his seven-year roller-coaster ride throughChicago with the brass and sass that made him the brightest symbol ofthe Bears' raucous 1985 championship year.

He blamed coach Mike Ditka for packing him off to San Diegowithout a chance to win the quarterback job. He reduced his feelingsfor president Michael McCaskey to disgusted looks. He expressedreservations about his successor, Mike Tomczak, and the future of theBears, the team he couldn't stop calling "we."
