- Evacuation warnings have been issued for parts of northern NSW, including Moree,
after heavy rain overnight.
- The director of engineering at Moree Plains Shire Council says council workers and
SES volunteers spent much of Wednesday filling around 3000 sandbags for use by those in
low-lying areas on Thursday.
- Residents in southern parts of NSW's mid north coast and around Taree are now on flood alert.
- The NSW government is looking for efficiencies to fund a wage increase granted to
community sector workers by Fair Work Australia.
- The Manufacturing Workers Union (MWU) says Holden has done workers at its Elizabeth
plant, in Adelaide's north, a disservice by not warning them of impending job cuts.
