-Siemens VAI gets order from ArcelorMittal for Galati plant in Romania.

8 February 2011 - German Siemens AG (ETR:SIE) said today its subsidiary Siemens VAI Metals Technologies had received an order to install an integrated Manufacturing Execution System (MES) in the Galati plant of steel group ArcelorMittal (AMS:MT) in Romania.

No financial details were disclosed.

The project will be handled jointly with advanced planning & scheduling software company Quintiq, and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013, Siemens said.

The IT solution will enable the production of the entire plant to be planned and monitored in real time and will provide ArcelorMittal Galati with a basis for implementing improvements along the entire production chain, Siemens added.
